Come explore what it means to adopt a Synergetic Approach to Learning.TM  Implementing the underlying tenets of Authenticity, Attunement, and Self-Regulation/Co-Regulation we can skillfully apply trauma sensitive approaches in our schools.

With the aid of video clips, participants will develop an understanding of this approach in classrooms. Participants will have the opportunity to practice self-regulation as a tool to work through intense emotions as they are experienced, so that they are released and not carried on. Participants will develop skills in talking about self-regulation in an inclusive way and facilitating teachers’ understanding of the universal benefits for all students, while also discussing the need for differentiation.  Behaviors seen in the classroom will be understood from a nervous system perspective and participants will learn to translate these behaviors for others in this context.

    Learning Objectives:
Following the workshop, participants will be able to:

    1. Describe the benefits of regulating in the moment when experiencing intense emotions.
    2. Demonstrate the use of co-regulation to support neural integration.
    3. Identify the different roles that school staff play as part of a support/intervention team using this approach.
