Important Updates on Section 504: Tips for Working with Students, Teachers, and Parents

The aim of this online training program is to enhance participants' comprehension of the distinctions between IDEA and Section 504, the duties and obligations of mental health professionals in schools regarding Section 504, and the necessary measures for creating and revising a Section 504 plan. Additionally, it will strengthen the ability of school personnel to partner and cooperate with families and colleagues and boost statewide expertise in implementing evidence-based approaches for students who may have emotional disabilities.
1) Participants will understand the difference between IDEA and Section 504
2) Participants will understand the roles and responsibilities related to Section 504
3) Participants will understand the steps in writing and modifying a Section 504 plan
