Professional Standards Program Area
This
program area is instrumental in the development and promotion
of standards related to
school psychological services, training, and ethics.
The
Future of School Psychology Committee focuses on recommendations
of the 2002 Future’s Conference and develops plans
to address issues of both immediate and future importance,
such
as school psychology shortages and services to children,
families and schools.
The
Ethics Committee defines the ethical standards of CSSP
in accordance with current
professional standards. The ethics committee works closely with all other committees to develop position papers which reflect the professional standards and ethics required of all licensed school psychologists.
The
Colorado
Department of Education Representative is a
school psychologist employed by CDE or appointed by the
president
of CSSP. The representative maintains a regular and
ongoing dialogue with CDE consultants to keep abreast of current
issues in the Department and present such issues to the Executive
Council.
The
Independent Practice Committee compiles and updates a list
of CSSP members who are engaged or interested
in
private practice and maintains a system of communication that allows them
to share information and respond to questions related
to school
psychologists in private practice.
University
Trainers represent all school psychology training programs
within
the state and maintain a dialogue
with CSSP leadership regarding best practice and training needs of
students entering the field.
