Advocacy
Program Area
Workgroups in the Advocacy program
area are responsible for promoting legislation, policies
and professional
practices that provide for and support children and families:
The
Legislative
Committee supports and promotes local, state
and federal legislation that affects healthcare
and mental
health services for children and youth. The committee
works closely with CSSP’s lobbyist to monitor and
respond to pertinent legislation.
The Health
Care Coordinator focuses on the current status
of health care initiatives, relevant legislation and funding
issues, and state-level issues. The Health Care Coordinator
facilitates the work of an adhoc committee established to
monitor how the expansion of Medicaid in the schools and
managed care affect the practice of school psychology.
The CSSP
State-wide Crisis Response Team provides comprehensive,
school-based prevention, intervention and postvention crisis
resources and services to educators throughout the state.
Upon request, the CSSP CRT can provide direct crisis response,
consultation, professional development, and resource development/distribution.
The team is also available to assist schools and communities
in developing and promoting safe school policies and practices.
The Collaborative
Relations Committee facilitates communication
between CSSP and others for the purpose of sharing common
issues, interests or concerns.
