Our Mission

The Mission of CSSP is to strengthen the effectiveness of school psychologists in addressing academic, social, and emotional needs of children and youth in Colorado. We believe that school psychologists have a unique niche in the educational process. We are grounded in research-based educational and psychological practice and collaboration skills that allow us to provide the leadership necessary for the educational change process.



2010 Fall Conference: Developing the Culturally Proficient School Psychologist

September 7th, 2010

November 4 – 6 at the beautiful Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek.

The emphasis of this year’s conference will be on building cultural competence in order to effectively address the mental health needs of diverse students and their families through evidence-based, culturally responsive mental health services.

New Practitioner Mini-Grant

Description of Mini-Grant

The Colorado Society of School Psychologists New Practitioner Mini-Grant program is designed to support new practitioners.  The program is completely dependent on private donations and proceeds from the CSSP silent auction held at the annual fall conference.  For the Fall 2010 Conference, $800 is available for mini-grants, and the maximum amount awarded per grant is $400.  Mini-grant funds may be used for the following purposes:  materials to support direct instruction in a classroom, education and training materials, mental health education, items which help meet the basic needs of children, therapeutic video tapes and games, and books for children.

 Qualifications

New practitioners with the following qualifications are eligible to apply for a mini-grant:

  • Currently working in the field of school psychology in a school in Colorado
  • Less than 3 years of paid work experience as a school psychologist and/or graduation from a school psychology graduate program within the last 3 years (interns are not eligible).
  • Current regular member of the Colorado Society of School Psychologists

Reminder: CSSP Memberships Expired June 30

Just a quick reminder that CSSP memberships expired on June 30th (even if you joined or renewed at the 2009 Fall Conference). Renew now for the 2010-2011 year so that you can continue to enjoy all the benefits of CSSP membership.

Regular and Associate Membership dues are $75. Student Memberships are $25.
